Varun Tej’s Matka to Clash with Kanguva

Despite coming from a reputed family in the film industry, Varun Tej has managed to gain attention by experimenting with different genres in his films. However, in the name of experimentation, his films have not seen significant success at the box office. Notably, his last two films Gandheevadhari Arjuna and Operation Valentine, which were aimed at A-centres, failed to attract audiences.

During an event, Varun Tej expressed his wish to continue pursuing experimental projects rather than sticking to commercial subjects, which led to some controversy. However, the actor is now gearing up for yet another new genre in his career as he delves into a period action film set between 1958 and 1982.

Titled Matka, Varun Tej will be seen in four distinct avatars, with Nora Fatehi and Meenakshi Chaudhary playing the female leads. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the film is slated to hit the screens on November 14, 2024. Despite releasing after the Diwali festival season, it will face a box office clash with Suriya’s Kanguva, which is also scheduled for the same date.
