Following the theatrical release in April 2024 as a Vishu special, the period musical drama Varshangalkku Shesham, directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, is now preparing for its OTT release on Sony LIV. Starring Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead roles, with Nivin Pauly making a cameo appearance, the film managed to amass approximately Rs 83 crore at the global box office during its time in cinemas. The film was expected to be a successful venture at the box office right from the announcement, and it lived up to the expectations despite facing a tough opponent.
The Vineeth Sreenivasan-helmed film attained blockbuster status and clinched the runner-up spot in the Vishu 2024 race. As per industry experts, the Pranav Mohanlal-Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer raked in a whopping Rs. 38.70 crore from the Kerala box office alone. Furthermore, it amassed around Rs. 7.70 crore from the box office collections in the rest of India. On the other hand, the overseas revenue amounted to Rs. 36.5 crore. Varshangalkku Shesham faced Aavesham, the Fahadh Faasil starrer directed by Jithu Madhavan, which premiered on the same day. Unbeknownst to many, the action-comedy film grossed over Rs. 155 crore throughout its time in cinemas. Despite the anticipation from experts in the field and industry members that Varshangalkku Shesham would come out on top as the Vishu victor of 2024, Aavesham took everyone by surprise by becoming the fourth blockbuster of 2024.
