Two Notable Flicks Head to OTT in Quick Succession

As the summer of 2024 heats up, cinephiles find themselves torn between the allure of the silver screen and the comfort of their living rooms as two recent notable flicks prepare for their OTT releases. Sidhu Jonnalagadda’s much-anticipated sequel, “Tillu Square,” dazzled audiences in theaters with its successful run, sticking true to expectations set by its predecessor, “DJ Tillu.” Now, Netflix has secured the OTT rights for the film, set to stream in four languages from April 26th, just four weeks after its theatrical debut.

In contrast, Vijay Deverakonda’s “Family Star,” directed by Parasuram, faced a different fate upon its theatrical release on April 5th. Despite high expectations, the film failed to resonate with audiences, resulting in a lackluster performance at the box office. However, Prime Video has swooped in to acquire the OTT rights, with the film slated for streaming on April 26th. With its genre and the advantage of an early OTT release, the makers are optimistic about a potential turnaround in fortune.

Since the theatrical releases of Tillu Square and Family Star, there haven’t been any notable films hitting cinemas. Both films are now making their debut on OTT platforms. With the demand for entertainment soaring, it’s crucial for filmmakers to adapt and make strides in gaining audience attention.
