The Requin, a thriller from 2022, is all set to be released on OTT in India. The film, starring James Tupper and Alicia Silverstone, is all set to premiere on Lionsgate Play on August 16, 2024. Le Van Kiet wrote and directed the film. An old term for the great white shark, meaning “shark” in French, the title is an adaptation of the word “requiem shark.” In the film, a tropical hurricane destroys the property of a couple on honeymoon and they end up trapped at sea. They have to face the terror of attack from sharks, and they have to fight with the environment for their survival.
Earlier, in an interview with MovieFone, Silverstone spoke about The Requin and said that being a part of such an exciting film made her happy. Alicia also said that Le Van Kiet is one of her favorite directors. She said his style is so unique, and it is perfect for capturing ladies. Le Van has a distinct aesthetic, according to Alicia, and she was ready to trust and help him.
Alicia Silverstone stated when she read the script. The scene where she thrusts the coral into the shark’s eyes had connected with her. Her initial thought was, “Oh, poor shark.” However, she said that one must fight for their life, whether it’s a shark or a human, it doesn’t matter. Both the filmmaker and Alicia believe that environmental destruction is nothing but solely the result of human activity, specifically their negligence for climate change, as well as their continued wastefulness and lack of awareness of the impact of their actions.
