Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan and directed by Pa Ranjith was released worldwide in theaters on August 15, 2024, on the occasion of India’s Independence Day. The film’s collections on Day 1 were too good.
The periodic action drama was released amidst great expectations, and it gathered 18 Cr on the first day at the worldwide box office. The film’s announcement came back in December 2021. It marks Vikram’s 61st film and the title was unveiled in October 2022. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the music for the film, with cinematography by A. Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Thangalaan received mixed reviews upon its theatrical release, and it has to be seen how it performs at the box office after a strong start.
Apart from Vikram, Thangalaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Sampath Ram and others in pivotal characters. The movie is set in the backdrop of 1850 CE in Veppur village of North Arcot.
