Chiyan Vikram’s Thangalaan is facing a series of postponements. It is widely known that renowned director Pa Ranjith and national award-winning actor Vikram have collaborated with the periodic action drama Thangalaan for the first time. The film was supposed to be released on January 26th. However, it was postponed as the makers wanted to reach a wider audience by screening the movie at international film festivals and then releasing it in theaters. After that, it was reported that the film would be released in April as a summer special, but the latest reports suggest that it has been postponed again.
The fans of Vikram cannot understand why the makers are holding the release even after the shoot was completed long back. As said above, the film was planned for the 26th January release and was postponed to the April release. The producer stated in the latest media interaction that the movie will be released after the elections, so the film will likely move out of summer. The glimpse/teaser has created a good buzz around Thangalaan, but these continuous postponements may affect the movie. Kollywood will also have a dry summer this year without any big star films like Tollywood.
During the film’s promotion, Vikram asserted that the Thangalaan universe extends beyond KGF, Kantaara, and Baahubali. The story of Thangalaan revolves around a tribal clan’s quest to preserve the gold beneath their mountainous home and their war against others for it. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and others play prominent characters in the movie. The film, produced by Neelam Productions and Studio Green, will have the music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
