Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare is the latest documentary that is all set to arrive on Netflix. The series is based on a shocking real-life incident, and it has been made as a documentary by journalist Alei Mostrous for a true crime podcast called Sweet Bobby. The OTT giant Netflix will bring this documentary before its subscribers starting next week.
In 2010, Harkirat Assi, who works as a local radio host in London, got befriended by a man named Bobby through social media, and it turned into a romantic relationship. The twist in the tale is that Kirat did not even meet Bobby in person and got entangled in a series of lies and was manipulated for over a decade. The biggest shock for Kirat was when she got to know that the identity of Bobby was fake and it was her cousin who used his name to cheat her. Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare, the six-part documentary, will be available for online streaming from October 16, 2024. Lyttanya Shannon has directed the documentary, while Rebecca North and Kiran Sira are the co-producers and producers, respectively. The documentary will show the viewers what difficult incidents Harkirat Assi faced with her and her friends and family’s exclusive interviews.
The interesting thing is, Kirat, who thought she was in a relationship and even got engaged to a person named Bobby, was a real person, but he did not have any idea that his name was being used to cheat a woman. Bobby was a cardiologist who never met Kirat in life. Simran Bhogal, the cousin of Kirat, was the mastermind behind the entire story, and when the latter dragged her to the court, Simran settled the matter out of court by paying some undisclosed amount.
