Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta’s film Soldier achieved great success when it premiered in theaters in 1998. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the movie starred Bobby as Raj Malhotra and Vicky Sinha, with Preity portraying Preeti Singh. It marked a significant release for Preity early in her career. Fast-forward 26 years, and producer Ramesh Taurani has announced the sequel to Soldier from 1998. In a recent interview, Taurani disclosed that filming for Soldier 2 will commence in 2025.
Bobby Deol recently suggested that there might be a sequel to Soldier. Now, producer Ramesh Taurani has officially announced Soldier 2. “We are definitely working on a sequel to Soldier. Filming for the movie will commence next year,” he told the publication. When asked about the potential reunion of Bobby and Preity for the sequel, Taurani did not confirm anything. Ramesh mentioned that the cast is still uncertain. Depending on the development of the story, a decision will be made regarding Preity’s pairing with Bobby. It’s worth noting that Soldier was one of Preity’s major Bollywood films, despite her initial work on Kya Kehnaa. Ramesh, the producer of both films, mentioned that they decided to cast Zinta in Soldier while they were in the process of making Kya Kehnaa.
On the professional front, Bobby Deol’s most recent appearance was in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor. The movie hit the screens in December 2023. He has a promising lineup of upcoming projects, including Apne 2, Kanguva, an unnamed collaboration with Anurag Kashyap, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Alpha, and more. In contrast, Preity Zinta’s last cinematic outing was Bhaiaji Superhit. After six years, it has been officially announced that the actress will be seen opposite Sunny Deol in Lahore 1947. Rajkumar Santoshi will direct the film.
