Sharmin Segal, the niece of renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has faced severe criticism for her portrayal of Alamzeb in the highly anticipated series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Since its release on the popular streaming platform Netflix, viewers have relentlessly targeted her with negative comments. However, the actress has now decided to address the issue and break her silence on the matter.
During a recent interview, Sharmin addressed the trolling and hate she has faced since the show’s release. She emphasized the significance of acknowledging the audience, stating that their positive or negative opinions give her perspective and help her stay grounded. The actress further acknowledges that not all feedback was unfavorable and has received favorable responses. However, the online community decided to emphasize the negative aspects and engage in trolling. “I dedicated myself entirely to portraying Alamzeb’s character. We tend to dwell on the negatives, but numerous positives have also emerged, which often go unnoticed. Perhaps discussing the positives isn’t captivating enough, and we tend to overlook them to some extent,” she expressed.
Sharmin Segal, the actress who marked her entry into the film industry with the 2019 movie Malaal, disclosed that she refrained from engaging in any conversations regarding her character in the show for several weeks. Nevertheless, she eventually chose to delve into all the discussions as she believed she was missing out on a significant amount of the affection she was receiving. “I have now begun to give it my attention. Recently, I decided to examine it all thoroughly. The audience’s viewpoint will likely assist you in becoming the finest version of yourself,” she concluded.
