Story:

Surya (Nani) is an angry young man who makes a promise to his mother in childhood that he will control his anger for six days in a week except for Saturday. On Saturday, Surya hits the people who make him furious. His life gets linked with Charulatha (Priyanka Mohan) a constable and Daya (SJ Suryah) a ruthless Circle Inspector who takes the lives of Sokulapalem people for granted and beats them all the time. The rest of the story is how Surya faces Daya while keeping the promise he did to his mom intact.

Performances:

Nani does a good job as Surya. The role is a tailor made one for him, and he easily fits into it. Nani also showed he can excel in fights with this film. SJ Suryah is fantastic as Daya, the villain. He effortlessly transforms into the character and displays a stellar act. Sai Kumar was perfect as the hero’s father while Priyanka Mohan, Harshavardhan, Aditi Balan, Sivaji Raja and others were appropriate.

Analysis:

Vivek Athreya for the first time made a film in the action genre with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. He made sure all the expected commercial elements were present in the film, along with his unique touch as a writer/director. He was successful in handling the action sequences, emotional parts and interlinking all the small tracks into the major story. However, he could have concentrated on driving the film more enjoyable as he has thrown in too many roles/scenes into the film.

Positives:

Vivek Athreya does a good job for most of the parts in the writing and screenplay departments. Though there is nothing new in the story or plot twists, he was successful in making the film an engaging ride. Both the Hero and Villain Characters were perfectly written, and all the scenes between Nani and SJ Suryah worked well for the film. After the director and star cast, there is another man whose work was brilliant and that person is music director Jakes Bejoy. The background score was electrifying all the time and elevated the scenes to the next level.

Negatives:

There are a few segments which were not that great. For example, establishing the hero’s character was done very well in the initial stage itself. But Vivek puts the similar parts again after his introduction, which gives the repetitive feel. Also, the track of Ajay Ghosh could have been cut short as it has some unwanted scenes. A few scenes near the pre interval and pre climax sound like overdone.

Rating: 3/5

Last Line: Saripodhaa Sanivaaram — A Neat and Engaging Action Drama
