Ramayana Release Postponed

Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, the much-awaited re-release of the animation movie, has been postponed. The audiences were very excited to see the film during the Dasara festival season, but the postponement announcement from the makers came as a very big disappointment to them.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, the distributors and the makers of the film announced that they intend to reach a wider audience, which is why they have pushed the release date of Ramayana from October 18, 2024, to later. Geek Pictures shared the information on their official social media accounts, and they thanked audiences for overwhelming engagement. They also added that the decision to postpone the film was taken because of their commitment towards providing the best possible experience with the iconic masterpiece to every corner of Indian country.

Directed by Yugo Sako, Ram Mohan, and Koichi Sasaki, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is the Japanese cartoon film adaptation of the Indian epic. Arun Govil provided the voice for the character of Lord Rama, while Namrata Sawhney and the late Amris Puri voiced the Sita and Ravana characters, respectively. Bollywood senior actor Shatrughan Sinha turned narrator of the film. The Ramayana film was screened at the 24th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 1993), but it was not released in theaters due to controversies around the film’s taking. Later, the flim got very popular because of reruns in the early 2000’s.
