Raj Kumar Hirani, one of India’s most renowned directors, is known for consistently delivering blockbuster films but faced a setback with his last movie, “Dunki.” Despite grossing 470 crores worldwide, the film could not match Hirani’s earlier works. It fell short of expectations as it was anticipated to be Shah Rukh Khan’s third 1000-crore-grossing film in 2023. The major complaint for Dunki was the second half, which looked like a documentary on illegal immigration rather than a feature film. However, Hirani is now venturing into OTT to make a comeback.
As a result of this disappointment, Hirani has shifted his focus to the OTT space. He is now set to debut in the digital realm with a web series featuring the talented actor Vikrant Massey, known for his role in “12th Fail”. During the COVID era, Hirani developed a script now being adapted into a web series. The series, directed by Amir Satyaveer Singh, delves into the world of cybercrime, with Massey portraying a security expert. Contrary to earlier rumors, Hirani is not just producing the series but actively contributing as the showrunner.
The untitled series, centered around cybercrime, will begin shooting next month and span over two months. This collaboration marks Massey’s fourth venture into the web series domain, following his successful appearances in “Mirzapur,” “Broken But Beautiful,” and “Criminal Justice.” Though Dunki disappointed the audiences, they still trust Hirani’s talent, and he could make a grand comeback with this web series. Let’s wish the master filmmaker all the best.
