The period of time that movie enthusiasts spend eagerly awaiting confirmation of rumored projects has become an integral part of their lives. This anticipation has become the norm with the resurgence of beloved shows and movies. Based on the renowned series Peaky Blinders, one highly anticipated spin-off film has been teased multiple times in the past few years and has yet to receive any official updates. However, today marks a significant milestone as we finally receive confirmation of this thrilling news: Netflix has given the green light to the Cillian Murphy-led movie.
During an interview with the media, Cillian Murphy expressed his enthusiasm for reprising his role as Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders movie. He mentioned that it felt like the character wasn’t done with him yet and that he was pleased to be working with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders. Murphy also acknowledged that the movie was a special treat for the series’ fans.
Tom Harper, renowned for his directorial work on Heart Of Stone and as the individual responsible for overseeing the initial episodes of season 1 of Peaky Blinders, has been appointed as the director for the upcoming movie. The screenplay will be crafted by the creator himself, Steven Knight. Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley serve as producers, alongside Executive Producers Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. In collaboration with BBC Film, this team will embark on the film’s production. Confirmed details about the plot are not yet available, as it is still too early. However, we understand the show’s nature, and the movie will stay true to that essence. Steven Knight previously mentioned that the movie will take place during World War II. Additionally, the report confirms that the production of the Peaky Blinders movie will commence later this year, and the creators are still searching for a suitable title.
