National Cinema Day 2024 worked wonders for Bollywood. Hindi films have solid over 14 lakh tickets on Friday (September 20). Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 has sold 4.75 lakhs tickets and stood in the first place.
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan ‘s Yudhra sold 4.40 lakhs tickets, and it got the second place in ticket sales, while the horror folk thriller Tumbbad took the third place with selling 2.70 lakhs tickets on National Cinema Day. Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT also did decent business in North India on September 20 despite not getting a release in National Chains. The film sold 45,000 tickets in North India. Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta starrer Veer Zaara earned 20 lakh on the 2nd Friday of re-release, whereas Khel Khel Mein collected 15 lakhs on the 6th Friday. The two films collectively sold 40,000 tickets.
Every year, the National Cinema Day supports Bollywood Films to score good numbers and helps the National Multiplexes register satisfactory footfalls. Except for Telugu states and a few regions in South India, the top multiplex chains like PVR-Inox, and Cinepolis have ticket rates at Rs 99/- on National Cinema industry which excites audiences to watch movies on that particular day.
