Naidu may delay seat sharing with Jana Sena due to fear of dissent

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to delay the number of seats to be given to the Jana Sena in alliance. Though the Jana Sena leaders want the TDP to declare the seats much in advance, particularly after Ponagal, Chandrababu Naidu might take his own time to announce it.

The Jana Sena is asking for at least 50 Assembly seats in alliance for the party. However, Chandrababu Naidu is not ready to give more than 25 seats. Out of these 25 seats, the major portion would be in the two undivided Godavari districts, where Jana Sena has some strength.

However, Chandrababu Naidu is worried about dissident both in the TDP and the Jana Sena if the seats are announced early. Naidu is afraid of having dissidence in the TDP if the seats are announced in advance. The TDP leaders, who have been eying the seats might get annoyed if the seats are given to the Jana Sena.

There are at least three candidates in the TDP for every Assembly segment. The candidates who contested in 2019 and those who are aspiring for the ticket this time are working in every constituency. There are at least three candidates for every constituency, who have been working for the party for the last five years.

These candidates might revolt against the party leadership if the seat sharing is announced in advance. This revolt might harm the prospects of the party in the coming elections and that’s what worries Chandrababu Naidu more.

Meanwhile, there is tension in the Jana Sena about the role of Pawan Kalyan in the government if the alliance wins the election. Party general secretary Nara Lokesh had already said that deputy chief minister post would be decided by the politburo of the TDP. This would mean that the opportunities of Pawan Kalyan are half sealed.
