Aditya Sarpotdar’s horror-comedy film Munjya has captivated audiences at the box office since its release on June 7th. This past Saturday, the film saw a significant increase in earnings, jumping to ₹6 cr from the previous day’s ₹3cr. On Sunday the film gathered 7 Crores Net. It seems that Munjya is truly enchanting moviegoers!
For 17 days, Munjya has collected 87 Crores Net and 103 Crores Gross, which is a sensational achievement. At a time when the big films are failing to get good numbers after the first weekend, Munjya has shown great consistency, and what’s more surprising is the film has maintained the same tempo in its first and second weeks as it collected a bit more in the second week than the first one. Munjya is now poised to enter the 100 Cr Club but whether it will be able to go near that magical figure soon or later will be decided by the biggie, Kalki 2898 AD’s release on June 27th.
Munjya, with its unique blend of horror and comedy, features a stellar cast including Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, Sharvari, and Sathyaraj. The storyline, set in the picturesque locales of Pune and the Konkan region of Maharashtra, is a thrilling tale of the havoc unleashed by Munjya, a legendary creature from Indian folklore. Verma’s portrayal of Bittu, a character facing the disturbances caused by this creature, and Singh’s role as Pummy, a single working mother with an overprotective nature, add depth and excitement to the narrative. This film is a proud addition to Maddock Films’s horror comedy universe, which includes other successful films like Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022).
