Munjya, starring Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and Sharvari, continues to dominate the box office as it enters its second week. This brings the total net collections of the film in India to 56 Crores, and the Gross will be at 66 Crores.
Munjya, directed by the renowned Kabir Khan, has demonstrated its resilience in the face of competition, particularly with the debut of Kartik Aaryan’s much-discussed movie, Chandu Champion. Despite the new release, Munjya held its ground, earning a commendable Rs 10 crore on Sunday. Even in its second week, Munjya’s Sunday earnings are on par with those of Chandu Champion, a testament to the film’s enduring appeal. Munjya’s initial week saw it amass a sum of Rs 36 crore, with a remarkable surge of over 85 percent in its earnings on Saturday, raking over Rs 7 crore. This upward trend continued on Sunday, and the film is poised to benefit from the extended holiday on Monday due to Eid al-Adha. On Sunday, it achieved an impressive 46.35 percent Hindi occupancy, with the highest occupancy of 61.43 percent observed during evening screenings.
Munjya transcends the realm of mere cinema; it immerses viewers in the rich tapestry of Indian folklore. Located in the stunning landscapes of Pune and the Konkan region of Maharashtra, the film explores the myth surrounding a mystical being. Crafted by Maddock Films under the guidance of Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Munjya stands as a distinguished entry in their repertoire of horror comedies alongside Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022). Notably, the movie concludes with a unique post-credit sequence featuring Varun Dhawan in a reprisal of his character from Bhediya, injecting a thrilling twist into the storyline.
