Almost a week has passed since Mirzapur Season 3 was released on Prime Video. Ali Fazal recently discussed the mixed reviews the new season has garnered and how public opinion has influenced the series. During a recent interview, the actor openly expressed his views on the evolution of Mirzapur and the difficulties of meeting viewer expectations.
Fazal commented that on a personal level, the impact is felt personally, even though it’s not taken as a personal attack. He believes this is true because everyone is not solely responsible for everything. It may be tempting to distance oneself by saying, “That’s not my problem,” but the truth is that everyone is part of the team and the storytelling process. After three seasons, they are all collaborators in a broader sense beyond just contributing their skills. Upon reflecting on the critiques received post the release of Season 2, he stated, “Indeed, we take note of the criticisms, but that doesn’t mean we will be influenced by them and start incorporating those clichés into our content, especially considering the massive viewership of the show. It’s crucial to remember that our series is one of the biggest in the world, attracting diverse opinions and even conspiracy theories. This diversity also results in different storylines and instances of favoritism, which is only natural.”
The actor highlighted the fervent responses from fans and the dedicated fan base the show has accumulated. “You know, memories can be either really positive or really negative. The impact of each season collectively varies, as does the immediate impact. But for the fans, it’s absolutely wild; they’re so passionate. I’ve already spoken quite a bit. I was thinking of wrapping up with ‘I don’t want to discuss this further,’ but I’ve already provided a lengthy response.”
