Meiyazhagan, the comedy drama featuring Karthi and Aravind Swamy in the lead roles, is having good flow at the box office. Directed by 96 fame Prem Kumar C, the film was released in theaters on September 27 in Tamil, and it was released in Telugu a day later, September 28th. The film was opened to superb reviews in both languages, and slowly it is gaining good growth at the ticket windows.
Before the film’s release, the makers arranged special premiers for critics, and it received a superb response. Despite not having many commercial elements, Meiyazhagan managed to open with a decent number on its first day, and for four days, the film has collected 30 crore gross at the worldwide box office. In Telugu states, Sathyam Sundaram (Meiyazhagan’s Telugu version title) is facing a giant movie in the form of NTR’s Devara, but still the film is able to find its own place. The film has sold nearly 9K tickets in the last 24 hours for the Telugu version, and it sold around 30K tickets for the Tamil version.
The trade expects Meiyazhagan to gather good numbers in the coming weekend as there is no new Tamil movie getting released, and even the Telugu version is also expected to get decent numbers as it received positive talk. Sathyam Sundarma tells the story of two cousins who are poles apart in behavior, and they spend a day together and get to know about each other.
