In a massive show of strength on the streets of Ongole, a one-of-its-kind event unfolded during YSRCP’s Samajika Sadhikara Yatra, where a grand procession of 21 tableaus, each representing different Backward Class communities and their respective occupations were displayed, signifying the vital role of the communities in shaping the state’s progress. Through this innovative campaign, the party was able to effectively convey the message of social and political empowerment of the marginalized communities including BC, SC, ST, and minorities through CM Jagan’s ‘Social Equality’ model of governance — a groundbreaking approach not witnessed in any previous regime.
Addressing a sea of supporters during the public meeting, Social Welfare Minister Merugu Nagarjuna emphasised that the YSRCP government has adopted the right balance between the welfare of marginalized communities and the overall development of the state. This equilibrium is evident in the development indexes recently released by the Reserve Bank of India.
The Minister also said, “Andhra Pradesh achieved a notable 50% increase in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), surging from Rs 8.7 lakh crore in March 2019 to Rs 13.17 lakh crore in 2022-2023. This substantial growth propelled the state from the 16th to the 4th position.”
Hailing Andhra Pradesh for an ‘exemplar model’, something that other states must emulate, Minister Adimulapu Suresh remarked, “The YSRCP government’s educational reforms, including the introduction of English medium in government schools and the implementation of the volunteer system, are gaining national recognition. Political parties in various states, Rajasthan being one of them, have incorporated these initiatives into their manifestos, citing the success of these measures under Chief Minister Jagan’s leadership in Andhra Pradesh.”
Meanwhile YSRCP’s Samajika Sadhikara also took place in Vishakhapatnam South Constituency (North Zone), where Speaker Tammineni Seetharam lambasted the previous TDP regime for its failure to ensure quality education for children. He stated, “Those who were in power yesterday, come to this dias and talk about development. From the challenges children faced in obtaining quality education during your administration to the significant progress achieved under the YSRCP government, there is a noticeable difference. Can you not see the transformation? Are you blind to the smiles on the faces of countless parents, who are able to give their children unprecedented quality education? If this is not a true indicator of development then what is?”
Speaking about the YSRCP government’s outreach for Muslims, Waqf Board Chairman Khadar Basha said, “CM Jagan has not only increased salaries for Imams and Mauzam but has also fulfilled promises such as providing financial assistance to the Muslim community for their annual Hajj Pilgrimage. This is why today we proudly say, ‘Maa Nammakam Nuvve Jagan.'”
YSRCP’s yatra was also held at Banaganapalle in Nandyal district (South Zone), where thousands converged in support of the party. Speaking at the event, Deputy CM Narayanaswamy announced significant financial support provided to the weaker sections in that particular assembly constituency, stating, “183,197 BC beneficiaries have directly received a substantial sum of Rs 409.3 crore through DBT (direct benefit transfer). Additionally, 95,737 SC beneficiaries have been allocated Rs 306.44 crore, and 14,956 ST beneficiaries have received Rs 24.85 crore, marking a crucial step towards inclusive economic empowerment.”
Further, Deputy CM Amzath Basha proclaimed, “In the Banaganapalle constituency, Chief Minister Jagan has directly allocated Rs 201.43 crores through welfare schemes to benefit 78,431 minority beneficiaries. Additionally, Rs 11.22 crores have been disbursed to 7,598 minorities through Non-DBT channels. It is owing to Jagananna that the lives of SC, ST, BC, and minority communities have been illuminated. It is our responsibility to reinstate Jagannana as the Chief Minister.”
MP Gurumurthy stated, “Chandrababu’s 40 years in politics yielded very little for the poor. In contrast, Chief Minister Jagan’s four and a half years brought numerous welfare schemes and a job revolution in the state. He prioritized SC representation in the cabinet, emphasizing the development of oppressed classes. CM Jagan’s compassionate approach is reflected in his lion’s share of nominated posts for the marginalized.”
