Mangalagiri MLA returns to the YSRCP fold

Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy on Tuesday returned to the YSR Congress. He met chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli and joined the party.

Ramakrishna Reddy left the YSR Congress last month and joined the Congress in the presence of APCC chief Y S Sharmila. He said that his rest of the travel would only be with Sharmila. He took active part in the Congress programmes held in the last one month.

However, he returned to the party and said that he would work for the party’s victory in Mangalagiri in the coming general election. He said he would support the YSR Congress candidate in the coming election. He said he had come back to ensure the YSR Congress Party’s victory for the third consecutive term in 2024.

Ramakrishna Reddy had been a close associate of Jagan Mohan Reddy right from the beginning of the party. He joined Jagan Mohan Reddy after the death of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, even before Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Congress. He had been with Jagan since then as a trusted lieutenant.

However, he had some differences with the government on the development of Mangalagiri Assembly constituency. He alleged that the government had not released him funds for the development. The government was also not releasing bills for the works done in the constituency and thus he had lost heavily.

One doesn’t know whether these allegations are true or false as every leader who leaves the ruling party would make similar allegations. They blame the government for not releasing funds and not clearing the bills for the works done.

Whatever it could be, Ramakrishna Reddy’s return to the YSR Congress is set to help the party wrest the seat once again. TDP candidate Nara Lokesh is likely to be defeated once again, this time in the hands of a BC candidate, Ganji Chiranjeevi.

In the last elections held in 2019, Lokesh lost the election to Alla Ramakrishna Reddy of the YSR Congress.
