Maidaan completes the Censor formalities

Maidaan, directed by Amit Sharma, has garnered immense anticipation this year. Ajay Devgn takes on the lead role in this movie, portraying the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, the former Indian football coach. Priyamani joins the cast as his on-screen wife. Before its theatrical release, the film received an approving nod from the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) with no cuts, as reported by Bollywood media. The board has awarded Maidaan a U/A certificate.

According to the news report, the examining committee of CBFC has approved Ajay Devgn’s film Maidaan without any edits. Nevertheless, the board has requested the inclusion of an extra disclaimer in the movie. The disclaimer states, “The film is a work of fiction inspired by true events available in the public domain, views of the legendary football players, and research of writers with fictional elements.” The disclaimer allegedly mentions that specific dialogues are used solely to enhance the dramatic effect of the events portrayed, and the film does not intend to encourage any illegal activities. Additionally, the creators of Ajay’s film were requested to include an anti-smoking ticker in scenes featuring characters smoking. They were also instructed to include the end credits in Hindi. The movie lasts 3 hours, 1 minute, and 30 seconds.

Amit Sharma’s film Maidaan will illuminate the life of Syed Abdul Rahim during his tenure as the Indian football coach from 1952 to 1962. Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor are the producers behind this project. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 10, 2024. On Eid, Maidaan is set to clash at the box office with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. It will be interesting to see which of these films will emerge victorious in the box office competition or both will receive the desired result.
