Lubber Pandhu, the latest super hit Tamil film starring Harish Kalyan and Dinesh in the lead roles, was all set to make its OTT debut outside India, but it has been postponed. Made as a sports family drama, the film was said to be available for online streaming on the Simply South platform from October 18th, but the streaming platform officially announced that it is delaying the film’s digital release. Because the film is running well in theaters, the platform felt it is better to postpone the OTT release.
Released in theaters worldwide on September 20, 2024, Lubber Pandhu opened to great positive reviews from every round of the corner, and it also became a good hit at the box office. The reviewers and audiences praised the film’s exceptional screenplay and elegant performances. Many hailed the film as the best ever sports drama from Tamil cinema. Lubber Pandhu tells the story of two men who are rivals in cricket, and one of them being in love with the daughter of another. Because of the ego clash between the two men, the cricket pitch becomes a battleground for them to handle their rivalry. Meanwhile, the streaming rights of the film in India have been bagged by the popular digital platforms, Disney+Hotstar, but the platform did not announce any release date.
Lubber Pandhu is directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, and the interesting thing is the filmmaker made his directorial debut with this sports drama. The film also stars Swaswika, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Bala Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Geeha Kailasam, and others in crucial roles.
