LSD 2 gets a Below Par Total in the First Weekend at the Box Office

LSD 2, the sequel to the 2010 crime-drama Love Sex Aur Dhoka, was released on April 19th after facing challenges in obtaining the Censor Board certification until the eleventh hour. Reports indicated that the Censor Board had removed certain intense scenes and abusive dialogues from the film. Despite director Dibakar Banerjee’s assurance of the film’s certification, LSD 2 encountered a significant hurdle five days before its release.

Following its release, LSD 2 is experiencing a lackluster performance at the box office. The crime drama is facing difficulties in attracting audiences to theaters. According to Sacnilk.com, the film garnered a revenue of Rs 41 lakh on Sunday, marking its third day since release. Despite having a decent turnout on its initial Sunday, LSD 2 managed to secure a 6.02% share among Hindi film viewers overall. The film’s box office collection has remained consistent thus far. On its opening day, LSD 2 earned Rs 15 lakh, followed by Rs 12 lakh on the second day. By the conclusion of its third day, the film accumulated approximately Rs 68 lakh in domestic collections.

A couple of days ago, Dibakar Banerjee mentioned in an interview that the main focus this time was on the impact of digital lifestyle on love life, rather than sticking to the crime-drama genre. LSD 2 sheds light on the obstacles and difficulties faced in relationships within a digitally-driven world. It delves into the relationships between individuals as they strive to navigate through the complexities of modern life and uncover their personal paths. Notably, LSD 2 also showcases the lifestyle of the LGBTQ+ community. Rajkummar Rao debuted in Bollywood with the first LSD film, which won a National Award. It is fascinating to note that Rao began his career in the crime-thriller genre, showcasing his exceptional talent and experience. The actor from Stree is genuinely unique in the Hindi film industry!
