Jack Black reprises his role as Po, the unlikely kung fu master, in Kung Fu Panda 4, marking his return to the beloved action-comedy franchise after almost ten years. Having triumphed over formidable enemies through courage and martial arts prowess in three previous adventures, Po is now called upon by destiny to take on a new role as the leader of the spiritual community in the Valley of Peace. There are several evident issues with that. Two matters are weighing heavily on Po’s mind: firstly, his extensive knowledge about paleo diets and spiritual leadership, and secondly, the urgent task of finding and preparing a new Dragon Warrior to succeed him in his esteemed position. To make matters worse, a small lizard named Chameleon (Viola Davis) can transform into any creature, regardless of its size. She is a malevolent and formidable sorceress. While Po triumphs over one formidable enemy after another, Chameleon sets her covetous eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, empowering her to summon each of them back to the spiritual realm.
Therefore, Po will require aid. Zhen (Awkwafina), the sly and sharp corsac fox who irritates Po yet whose talents are essential, lends a hand (or paw?). This comical duo will have to collaborate in order to safeguard the Valley of Peace from the reptilian Chameleon. As they progress, Po will realize that the most unlikely heroes are often the ones you overlook.
