Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas met chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Velampalli Srinivas, Devineni Avinash and others.
It may be mentioned here that Kesineni had resigned from the TDP early this week. His daughter Kesineni Swetha also quit the TDP and resigned to her corporator seat.
The TDP leadership had asked Kesineni to be away from the party activities, particularly from the public meeting which was addressed by party chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Tiruvur on January 7. The party also told him that he would not get the party ticket for the coming elections to contest from Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat.
Angered at this communication, Kesineni quit the party and had sent his resignation to the Lok Sabha speaker. He said he would also personally meet the Lok Sabha speaker and get his resignation approved. He also said that he would join the YSR Congress once his resignation is accepted.
Later, after meeting the chief minister, told the media that the TDP had insulted him on many occasions. He said he had digested everything in the larger interests of the party. The party leadership had made some leaders to openly criticise him at the party office.
He said that he had joined the party in 2013 when the party was in opposition. He took the responsibility of the party and steered the party’s victory in the subsequent elections. He said he wasted his time and resources for the party for all these years.
He said that Chandrababu Naidu is a betrayer, but he never expected Naidu to betray him too. He cheated me and he brought division in my family, Kesineni said. The TDP leaders tried to instigate my family members to attack me too, he said.
