Kalki 2898 AD will not be out on OTT anytime soon

Kalki 2898 AD continues to dominate the box office and shows no signs of slowing down. Nag Ashwin has once again demonstrated his brilliance as a director, elevating Telugu cinema to new heights. The film has collected a whopping 500 Cr Gross worldwide and is anticipated to enter the magical 1000 Cr Club. Meanwhile, there is an interesting revelation about the film’s digital debut.

The latest development is that the producers are considering delaying the film’s OTT release. Amazon Prime has acquired Kalki’s OTT rights for all South Indian languages, while Netflix has secured the rights for the Hindi version. Usually, Pan-Indian films will have a gap of at least 50-60 days between theatrical and OTT releases as the multiplex owners will have a pre-agreement in the North regarding the gap. Telugu films will have a much shorter gap of four weeks between theatrical and digital releases except for one or two movies.

Inside sources reveal that the film’s producers have engaged in discussions with various OTT platforms, leading to a significant change in Kalki 2898 AD’s digital release. Originally slated for the final week of July 2024, the film’s digital debut has been pushed to the second week of September. This decision, influenced by the film’s impressive box office performance, aims to ensure a prolonged theatrical run for Kalki. The future of Kalki 2898 AD is one to watch.
