Kalki 2898 AD: No Star will be seen as Lord Krishna in the Sequel

Kalki 2898 AD, the epic sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin, has been the talk of the town since its release. In addition to its exceptional production and technical finesse, the star-studded cast has caused quite a stir on social media. Notably, the film features famous actors from all major Indian film industries, including legends such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and many others. Interestingly, director Nag Ashwin recently disclosed that they never considered any superstar for the role of Lord Krishna in the film.

In a recent interview, director Nag Ashwin discussed the casting process of Kalki 2898 AD at length. Surprisingly, the filmmaker disclosed his preference for not casting a well-known personality to portray the character of Lord Krishna in the movie. Previously, there were speculations about several popular figures, such as superstar Mahesh Babu and Nani, being considered for the role of Krishna. Nevertheless, the character was ultimately portrayed by Krishna Kumar, also known as KK, a skilled Tamil actor who has previously delivered notable performances in Soorarai Pottru and Maaran. Nag Ashwin deliberately cast a lesser-known actor as Krishna in the film to ensure that the focus remains on the character rather than the actor’s popularity. He wanted the audience to experience Krishna’s aura without being overshadowed by a superstar presence on screen.

Additionally, the director was adamant about portraying a dark-skinned Krishna in a mysterious and decisive manner, hence the character appearing in silhouette throughout the film. Nag Ashwin also dismissed rumors of replacing the actor with a popular star in future installments, emphasizing that the character’s portrayal will remain consistent across the franchise.
