Jr NTR’s Devara: Too Long or Just Right?

Run time plays a crucial role in cinemas, often determining whether a film succeeds or fails based on how the screenplay unfolds. The audience’s perception can shift depending on the pacing and engagement of the story. A well-crafted narrative can make even a 3-hour film feel too short, as seen with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, if the storytelling falters, even a 2-hour film can feel drawn out.

Lately, big-star projects have been leaning towards nearly 3-hour runtimes. Recently, Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD and Vijay’s G.O.A.T followed this trend, but with contrasting receptions—Prabhas’s film resonated with audiences, while Vijay’s did not.

Now, Jr NTR’s upcoming film Devara is also taking the same route. The movie has completed its censor formalities and received a U/A certificate, which is a positive sign compared to Salaar, which was rated A. However, the film’s run time has raised some concerns, as the makers have locked in 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 58 seconds for the first part of Devara alone.

Will this lengthy runtime attract both fans and netizens? Can Koratala Siva keep the audience engaged throughout? These questions will be answered on September 27th.
