Jigra is facing tough times at the box office. The action drama, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, was released in theaters on October 11, 2024. It had a superb promotional campaign across India, and it was also released in Telugu because of Alia’s popularity in Telugu states after RRR. However, the film received a lukewarm response from audiences and critics upon its theatrical release.
After getting a meager 19 crore net for the first four days in India, the film was able to collect just over 1 crore on its fifth day, Tuesday. The total net collection of Jigra for four days will be over 20 crore at the domestic box office. The film was expected to do decent business at the plexes in its first week at least, but it failed to get the minimum response required for that, and it is heading towards becoming a big failure at the box office.
Jigra tells the story of a brother and sister who lose their father at a young age. Alia appears as Satya, and Vedang Raina as Anand. When Anand is imprisoned in a false drug case and is tortured in jail, Satya vows to save her brother, and she is ready to face any consequences to make her mission successful. Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran appeared in supporting roles. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film has been jointly produced by Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions banners.
