James Gunn Confirms Peacemaker Season 2 as Part of New DCU Chapter 1 Slate

James Gunn continues to reveal details of his bold new DC Universe vision, confirming Peacemaker Season 2 will be part of the inaugural Chapter 1. Gunn previously announced a 5-film, 5-show Chapter 1 lineup to reboot DCU. But he made it clear that it was less than half the full roster.

When asked on Twitter if Peacemaker’s next season falls under Chapter 1, Gunn replied “yes.” This was uncertain after Season 1 tied closely to the old DCEU. But Gunn promised Season 2 will address Peacemaker’s role in the new continuity when it likely arrives in 2025.

Peacemaker joins several other HBO Max shows, including Chapter 1: Creature Commandos, Waller, Lanterns, Booster Gold, and Paradise Lost. The animated series Creature Commandos connects to Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and will be released first in 2024. Waller reunites Viola Davis with Peacemaker stars. Lanterns finally reintroduce Green Lantern to DCU. Booster Gold is an imposter syndrome comedy. Paradise Lost explores Themyscira before Wonder Woman.

Release dates are still unclear, but all shows will debut exclusively on Max. Bit by bit, Gunn is pulling back the curtain on his grand DC universe vision. Ensuring Peacemaker’s violent vigilante still has a key part is crucial for continuity. The expanding Chapter 1 slate shows Gunn is undertaking an ambitious and innovative reboot to reshape DC’s future.
