Unni Mukundan’s latest Malayalam film, Jai Ganesh, achieved a major milestone on Manorama Max. Manorama Max is the Malayalam OTT platform that is gaining prominence over the years. Jai Ganesh has created a rare record by becoming the most streamed Mayalam film on Manorama Max. This thriller has received much praise after its digital premiere.
Jai Ganesh was not able to attract much response from audiences upon its theatrical release because it faced strong competition with other films like Varshangalkku Shesham and Aavesham. The critics gave good reviews, and it had a decent run for three weeks at the box office. Also, Jai Ganesh was the first one to release on digital platforms among the three Vishu releases. As a large section of audiences could not watch the film in theaters, they eagerly waited for its OTT release. Jai Ganesh was released on OTT in May.
The film tells the story of Ganesh (Unni Mukundan), a graphic artist who is disabled below the waist because of an accident. His life turns completely up and down when Rayyan, his close friends, and the son of MLA Prasad Puthran get kidnapped by an unknown man. The rest of the story is about how Ganesh, despite his disability, finds the culprit and saves Rayyan. Jai Ganesh was produced by Dreams n Beyond and Unni Mukundam Films. It also stars Ashokan, Jomo, Ravindra Vijay, and Mahima Nambiar.
