The upcoming film Mr. Bachchan, helmed by Tollywood Director Harish Shankar, is set to hit theaters on August 15th. This movie is an authorized adaptation of the Bollywood blockbuster Raid, which features Ajay Devgan. Yesterday, the teaser for Mr. Bachchan was unveiled, followed by a press conference led by the team. During the event, Harish Shankar shared insights on the challenges of remaking films and also countered some media spokespersons regarding old controversies.
Harish Shankar boasts an impressive 18-year tenure in the Telugu film industry. His journey commenced with the movie Shock featuring Ravi Teja, and he subsequently helmed numerous remakes. Notably, he achieved great success with the blockbuster Gabbar Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan, a remake of Dabangg. Interestingly, his last film, Gaddalakonda Ganesh, was also a remake (Tamil Film Jigarthanda). So Harish got the image of a remake expert. When questioned about his penchant for remakes during the Mr. Bachchan Teaser Launch Event, Harish Shankar staunchly defended his creative choices, asserting that directing remakes posed a more significant challenge than creating original films.
The Director expressed the view that a remake is inevitably compared to the original film, making it challenging to reach the same level of quality. However, this perspective was not well-received by a section of the audience, who believe many directors have successfully remade films. Harish Shankar’s belief that making a remake film is more difficult may seem misguided. While he may defend his directorial skills, considering a remake film to be superior to its original counterpart does not seem logical to the netizens, and his video was widespread and was a topic of discussion since yesterday evening on social media.
