Kannada Filmmaker Prithvi Konanur has made three films so far, all three of which are critically acclaimed, while one took the Silver Lotus award at the National Film Awards. Sadly, his films have got exposed to very limited audiences. Though two of his films had theatrical releases, they were very minimal. With major OTT platforms not picking Kannada content, and only a few films cracking streaming deals, it is much difficult for Prithvi to obtain the required reach with his films.
Prithvi could not pick up any digital platform interested in his films, and he is now taking his films to audiences directly. On August 15, the filmmaker will release his most recent film, Hadinelentu on his YouTube page, as his last attempt to provide the film more reach.
Hadinelentu revolves around a sensitive subject. The movie is about two teenagers who engage in sexual activity that they decide to shoot for their own happiness/use. Unfortunately, their private moment goes leaked, and it becomes available on everyone’s phone, and the kids are in for questioning by the college authorities. Hadinelentu does not concentrate on what the two youngsters did, but it focuses on the afterward proceedings.
In the film, the boy is from an upper class, whereas the girl is not. What turns the entire situation too worse is that one of them is already 18, introducing the angle of age of consent to the issue. Neeraj Mathew and Sherlyn Bhosale acted in the film as the young couple, with the supporting cast including names like Rekha Kudligi, Sudha Belawadi and Bhavani Prakash among others. While the festival outing of the film had an open-ended climax, the filmmaker now has a promise of a sequel.
