As summer approaches, Google Maps is introducing a host of new features designed to enhance the travel experience for users. One of the most exciting additions is the ability to discover curated lists of recommendations from trusted sources and the Maps community itself, initially rolling out in select cities across the United States and Canada.
When searching for these cities in Maps, users can swipe up to access carefully curated lists from local experts, popular travel sites like Lonely Planet and The New York Times, as well as lists generated by Google Maps based on trending and highly-rated locations. These lists will cover a wide range of categories, including restaurants, attractions, and hidden gems, providing users with a comprehensive and localized perspective on their travel destinations.
Google Maps is also leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to offer more insightful information about restaurants and dishes. By analyzing photos and community insights, the app will now provide details such as dish names, prices, popularity, and dietary preferences, giving users a better understanding of a restaurant’s offerings at a glance. Additionally, the app is receiving a visual overhaul, with a cleaner home screen and improved map pin colors, making it easier to navigate and find desired locations.
