Tamil actor Soori, known for his comedic roles, has successfully transitioned into lead roles. His debut film as a lead, Viduthalai, was a huge success, captivating the audience’s hearts. Additionally, Soori’s recent village drama Garudan has been a commercial triumph, grossing over 50 crores at the global box office. It has emerged as one of the Tamil cinema’s biggest hits in 2024.
The highly anticipated action film is gearing up for its digital debut. Garudan is set to premiere for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting this Friday (June 28). The OTT platform is expected to officially announce the release soon. Garudan initially hit theaters in the final week of May. Renowned filmmaker Vetrimaaran crafted the storyline for this rural drama, with R.S. Durai Senthilkumar serving as the director. The movie features M. Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan, and Roshini Haripriyan in pivotal roles. Garudan was jointly produced by Grass Root Film Company and K. Kumar’s Lark Studio, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The movie, helmed by Durai Senthikumar, is set in the rural village of Kombai in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. It revolves around the ongoing clash between the affluent and the underprivileged. Soori plays the character of Sokkan, a loyal disciple of his master Karunakaran, also known as Karuna, portrayed by Unni Mukundan. On the other hand, Sasikumar takes on the role of Aadithya, also known as Aadhi. The plot primarily explores the evolving dynamics among these three individuals when a government minister tries to seize the land belonging to a temple.
