Eric is a forthcoming British psychological thriller mini-series with six episodes. The series guarantees to present a captivating and suspenseful narrative until its conclusion. Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in the lead role following his appearance in The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023), which received the Best Short Film Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024. Benedict Cumberbatch portrays Vincent, a sorrowful father desperately seeking his vanished son in 1980s New York. Assisted by a creature named Eric dwelling beneath his son’s bed, Benedict will uncover unsettling revelations about his past and the metropolis. The show unfolds against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis. Witness eerie occurrences in Eric, premiering on May 30, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.

Abi Morgan, an Emmy-winning writer known for The Hour, Shame, The Iron Lady, and other works, is the creator of Eric. The storyline takes a twist when Vincent uncovers some enigmatic details regarding the disappearance of his 9-year-old son, Edger. Vincent, a puppeteer and the mastermind behind the beloved children’s TV program Good Day Sunshine becomes entangled with Eric, the blue monster puppet. Eric warns Vincent that he will assist him in locating Edger if Vincent can elevate his popularity. The film tells about Eric, Vincent’s sole ally, in his quest to bring Edger back, despite receiving support from his colleagues, police, and detectives. Fans can witness Benedict Cumberbatch’s entirely fresh and distinctive role in Eric. Vincent’s astonishingly desperate and deranged actions are guaranteed to leave you astounded.

The cast of the series includes not only Benedict Cumberbatch but also Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler, Clarke Peters, Ivan Morris Howe, Phoebe Nicholls, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar, Roberta Colindrez. Jeff Hephner and Wade Allain-Marcus will also be seen in important roles. The series was first announced in 2023 and is set to be released in May.
