Emraan Hashmi’s Showtime trailer is intriguing

The highly anticipated trailer for the web series Showtime, starring Emraan Hashmi, has been released recently after an exciting first look. This trailer provides a glimpse into the intricate world of Bollywood, exploring its internal dynamics and politics, including the ongoing debate on nepotism. Alongside Hashmi, the series features talented actors such as Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Naseeruddin Shah, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles.

The trailer begins with Emraan Hashmi’s character, Raghu Khanna, who is the son of a renowned producer played by Naseeruddin Shah, announcing his inheritance of the family studio. Raghu is determined to transform it into a cinematic powerhouse through his relentless hard work. His focus is on creating mainstream Bollywood blockbusters that generate substantial profits. However, his approach is challenged by journalist Mahika Nandy, who also dreams of making her mark as a filmmaker.

During a heated confrontation, Mahika fearlessly declares to Raghu, “You sell a product; I will make films.” Later, Raghu, played by Emraan, critically examines the hypocrisy hidden behind such statements. He states, “In the end, every outsider wants to become an insider behind the facade of nepotism.” The trailer showcases Mouni Roy, who portrays an actor facing numerous obstacles, while Rajeev Khandelwal embodies the challenges of an artist striving to stay significant. Furthermore, the trailer provides a sneak peek of rapper Badshah’s cameo appearance in the series.

Scheduled to debut on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 8, Showtime, an original series by Hotstar, is the brainchild of Sumit Roy. Co-directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, the show is brought to life by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic, the digital division of Dharma Productions.
