Emergency: Kangana Ranaut’s Upcoming Film’s OTT Partner has been locked

The OTT partner of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has been revealed. It is widely known that recently, the makers of the film released a trailer. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on September 6. After enjoying the theatrical run, Emergency, which is said to be a biopic of Indira Gandhi, will be out on OTT. Generally, Bollywood films follow an eight-week gap between the theatrical and OTT releases.

Emergency will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. Reportedly, there was a good competition for the film’s digital rights between multiple OTT platforms. But finally Netflix got the exclusive streaming rights for the film based on the former Indian PM, Indira Gandhi. The movie will be out on the OTT platform two months after its theatrical run. Though the film is titled Emergency, the film will show Indira Gandhi’s political career (she is former PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s daughter), her reign as PM, and the downfall that led to Emergency and her brutal assassination. Since Indira Gandhi is known for the Emergency period, which is said to be the darkest time in Indian history, the film’s narrative will likely be on what led to that unfortunate situation and how Sanjay Gandhi influenced it.

Shreyas Talpade plays the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Emergency. Meanwhile, Milind Soman will appear as Sam Manekshaw. The film, directed and produced by Kangana Ranaut, also stars Anupam Kher and Mahima Choudhary in pivotal roles.
