Emergency, which marks the directorial debut of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, has faced a lot of controversies in the recent days. After facing multiple delays, the film was scheduled to be released in theaters on September 6, 2024. However, because of the delay in the censorship amidst controversies, the film’s theatrical release was postponed. According to the latest reports, the film will be released in another two weeks. Kangana and the team of Emergency Movie are happy now as the Bombay High Court condemned the Central Board of Film Certification for illegally withholding the censorship of the film.
Kangana was happy as the High Court blasted CBFC for illegally withholding the certificate of emergency. The HC ordered CBFC to consider objections before certifying the movie. Emergency will be released in theaters after two weeks from its previous date, as the high court directed the censor board to look at the objections raised against the film and then certify it by September 18. On September 4, a division bench of Justices BP Colabwalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla accepted the producer’s claim that the film’s censor certificate was prepared but not issued. The court also noted the point that if the Madhya Pradesh High Court had not given the order, the CBFC would have issued the certificate on September 4.
Emergency is a biographical political drama that has Indira Gandhi, former Indian Prime Minister, as its central character. Kangana appears in the film as the late Indira Gandhi, while Shreyas Talpade as former Prime Minister Atal Bijari Vajpayee, Anupam Kher as Jayaarakash Narayan, Mahima Chaudhry as cultural activist and Indira Gandhi’s confidante Pupul Jayakar, and Milind Soman as Filed Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
