Embracing Unconventional Titles: Shahid Kapoor Defends His Film

Bollywood has always been a realm of innovation and bold choices, especially when it comes to film titles. Shahid Kapoor, a prominent figure in the industry, recently opened up about the trend of unconventional titles in Hindi cinema while promoting his latest film, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” alongside co-star Kriti Sanon. During an interview, Shahid delved into how unique, sometimes lengthy, film titles have been a subject of skepticism but eventually turned into something memorable and iconic.

Reflecting on the past, Shahid recalled the initial reaction to the now-legendary film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (DDLJ). At a time when Bollywood was dominated by succinct titles like “Ghatak” and “Ghayal,” DDLJ’s comparatively lengthy title stood out as an anomaly. However, this film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, not only became a monumental success but also a significant part of Hindi cinema’s legacy. Shahid pointed out that while the title initially raised eyebrows, it eventually became synonymous with one of the greatest love stories in Indian film history.

Shahid also brought up his own experience with the film “Jab We Met,” directed by Imtiaz Ali. The title, a blend of Hindi and English, was initially met with confusion and skepticism. This innovative approach to film naming was still new at the time. However, “Jab We Met” went on to become a classic, proving that a title, no matter how unconventional, can become endearing and iconic over
