Dunki, the comedy-drama, represented the first-ever partnership between two icons in their fields: Shah Rukh Khan as the actor and Rajkumar Hirani as the director. It premiered in theaters a day before Prabhas’ Salaar, achieving a box office revenue exceeding Rs. 470 crore. Though the film failed to reach massive numbers at the box office, it was appreciated for its content on OTT. The film has received a special invitation that will make Shah Rukh Khan and his fans very happy.
Director Rajkumar Hirani has been invited to attend a Dunki screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), bringing the movie back into the spotlight. This invitation is a significant honor for the entire team and raises the possibility of the film being released in China shortly. Hirani will be representing the film at the festival, and we eagerly await to see if SRK will join him. Notable actors such as Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and others have played key roles in the movie. The film is a joint production by Gauri Khan of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani of Rajkumar Hirani Films.
Set in a picturesque village in Punjab, Dunki weaves a compelling narrative about four individuals grappling with limited resources, yet harboring dreams of conquering their personal challenges in London. Just as they are about to give up on their aspirations, Hardy (played by Shah Rukh), a former army personnel, enters their lives. He presents them with an alternative, albeit illegal, path to realize their dreams. As their journey unfolds, Hardy finds himself drawn to Manu (portrayed by Taapsee Pannu), adding a layer of complexity to their story.
