With the postponement of Producer Dil Raju’s much-anticipated project, “Love Me If You Dare,” starring his nephew Ashish Velamakucha, the April 25th release slot suddenly opens up a significant opportunity for dubbed films to grab the spotlight in Telugu cinema. Amidst the scarcity of notable releases during the week, two straight Tamil films are poised for a simultaneous release on April 26th, igniting a fierce battle for attention among Telugu audiences this summer.
The first contender in this cinematic showdown is “Rathnam,” directed by Hari and starring Vishal in the lead role. Accompanied by Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead and music composed by Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad, the film’s initial trailer suggests a familiar blend of action and romance. Despite its seemingly routine storyline, the absence of notable competitors and Vishal’s decent market presence in Telugu could drive considerable interest towards “Rathnam” among eager movie enthusiasts.
On the other end of the spectrum, the fourth installment of the popular “Aranmanai” franchise is set to make its Telugu debut as “Baak.” Boasting a cast led by the glamorous Tamannaah Bhatia and Raashi Khanna, this horror-comedy promises to deliver the franchise’s trademark blend of thrills and laughs. While the horror-comedy genre may be facing saturation in recent times, the established craze for the “Aranmanai” series among Tamil audiences presents an opportunity for “Baak” to carve a niche in the Telugu market, provided it maintains the standards set by its predecessors.
