Puri Jagannath: Ram Pothineni’s Double Ismart (the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Ismart Shankar) was released in theaters worldwide this Independence Day. Unlike its predecessor, which was a big success at the box office, Double Ismart failed to impress audiences and ended up as a big failure.
However, it is said that the makers sold the film’s digital rights for a good price, and it made an unannounced entry on OTT. On the midnight of September 5th, Double Ismart made its digital arrival without any notice from the producers or streaming platform. The film’s theatrical run is just three weeks. Everyone was expecting the film to arrive on OTT after four weeks of theatrical release, but it came one week before the expected date. Despite having a craze for sequels, Double Ismart failed to strike a chord with audiences because of its poor narrative, uninteresting action, and stupid/disappointing comedy (Ali’s track).
Ram Pothineni played the lead role in Double Ismart, while Kavya Thapar appeared as the female lead. Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt played the antagonist role in the film, but he was wasted in a significant role. Shiyaji Shinde, Pragathi, Jhaansi, and Bani J appeared in supporting roles. Mani Sharma has composed the film’s music, and even it was not as great as it was in the first part.
