Shortly after news broke that a high-quality version of the Kannada film Blink had been illegally copied (Piracy) before its release on an online streaming platform, the film has now officially been made available on the platform, although only in certain regions. Amazon Prime Video, which holds the digital rights to the film, has made Blink available for rental purposes only to audiences in the UK and USA. The rental price in the UK is 3.49 pounds. The release date for the film in India has yet to be determined, but it is expected to happen soon since the streaming platform already has the content. It is rumored that Blink has secured a pay-per-view agreement with the platform, which means that the regular subscribers will be able to stream it without paying an additional amount once it becomes available.
Blink, a science fiction film directed by newcomer Srinidhi Bengaluru and produced by AJ Ravichandra, explores the concept of time travel. The story follows Apurva, portrayed by Dheekshith Shetty, a college student who has always believed that his father abandoned the family when he was a child. However, when he encounters an elderly man named Arivu, Apurva learns that the truth about his father may not be what he thought. With Arivu’s assistance, Apurva embarks on a journey back in time to uncover the mysteries of his past, only to realize that some secrets are best left undiscovered. Dheekshith Shetty was accompanied by Vajradheer Jain, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Chaithra J Achar, Mandara Battalahalli, and Suresh Anagalli, among others, in the ensemble. Blink received favorable reviews, although it faced challenges in securing screens/showtimes. Following its release, the movie was off screens for nearly a week before the team successfully brought it back to theaters. Ultimately, it enjoyed a 50-day theatrical run before transitioning to OTT platforms.
Recently, producer Ravichandra found himself in a state of urgency, actively seeking assistance from an anti-piracy organization to remove links containing the pirated HD version of Blink. The filmmaker, deeply concerned over potential financial losses that may arise from the widespread circulation of the pirated print, is making every effort to protect the film’s integrity and the rights of its makers.
