Deadpool and Wolverine, the superhero film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, maintained a consistent box office performance on a regular Tuesday, earning a solid Rs 6.5 crore, according to industry trackers. This represents a slight decrease from Monday’s Rs 7 crore collections, but it also shows the film’s good hold at the box office.
Deadpool and Wolverine reached its highest occupancy of nearly 20 percent during the night screenings, wrapping up its fifth day in cinemas with an estimated net collection of Rs 81.5 cr in India. The Marvel flick is maintaining a steady pace and is anticipated to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark in its second weekend. It has already outperformed Chandu Champion, Srikanth, and Bad Newz and has garnered almost four times the earnings of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sarfira. The movie is expected to achieve one of the best opening week performances for a Hollywood release in India, surpassing the previous year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which earned Rs 83.45 cr in seven days. With over Rs 80 cr collection in five days, Deadpool and Wolverine is on track to surpass Tom Cruise’s film record by Wednesday and is projected to finish its first week with collections exceeding Rs 88 cr. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness grossed Rs 101.49 cr in its initial week.
Deadpool and Wolverine are expected to maintain their popularity among multiplex audiences in the upcoming weekend. The impact of the two new Hindi film releases, Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Jahvi Kapoor’s Ulajh, on the Hollywood Superhero Multistarrer remains uncertain.
