In Tollywood, securing release dates half a year ahead does not ensure a seamless release, especially for actors with massive popularity. This situation has been witnessed numerous times before. The unexpected alteration of Salaar’s release date last year caused significant disruption in the scheduling of film releases in the Telugu film industry. A similar scenario will unfold in December 2024 because of the postponement of Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rule.
Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel and Nithin’s Robinhood were originally planned for a December 20 release. Each film promises a unique viewing experience for audiences, so they have a chance to succeed if their content is compelling. However, the introduction of Pushpa into the mix could potentially disrupt their box office performance, posing a significant challenge. Recent reports indicate that Pushpa 2: The Rule, which was initially set for an August release, is now eyeing a Christmas release, aligning with its predecessor. This change in schedule could have a major impact on the lineup for December, further intensifying the situation. Also, Allu Arjun will have to face the mighty Amir Khan as Mr Perfectionist is arriving with Sitaare Zameen Par this December, adding to the competitive atmosphere.
Geetha Arts produces Thandel, which may need to be rescheduled to make way for Pushpa. On the other hand, Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of Pushpa, support Robinhood, allowing for a potential change in release dates. There is also speculation about Dil Raju considering the December slot for Ram Charan’s Gamechanger. This could result in both Pushpa 2 and Game Changer hitting theaters towards the end of the year, potentially causing a bottleneck for other films. The ongoing cycle of rescheduling highlights the competitive and unpredictable nature of film releases in the industry. We must patiently await the official announcement of release dates.
