Censor and Runtime: Mr. Bachchan vs. Double iSmart

Two commercial entertainers are going head-to-head this Independence Day on August 15th. Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan will have an early start with its evening premieres planned a day before. Directed by Harish Shankar, the film has already generated good buzz thanks to its music album and the female lead, Bhagyasri Borse. Despite being a debutant, Borse has garnered appreciation from audiences, especially the youth, for her glamour and dance moves.

On the other hand, despite facing distribution hurdles, Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart may not carry the same level of buzz but is the sequel to the hit film iSmart Shankar. Directed by Puri Jagannath, this film has taken more time to complete compared to his previous projects, largely due to the setbacks from his last film, Liger. Jagannath is aiming for a comeback with this film, and the addition of Sanjay Dutt is expected to boost its appeal in the Bollywood market.

Censor formalities for both films have been completed. Mr. Bachchan has received a U/A certificate with a runtime of 2 hours 38 minutes, while Double iSmart has been awarded an A certificate and has a runtime of 2 hours 42 minutes.
