Pallavi, played by Gayatri Bhardwaj, serves as an Air Traffic Controller at Vizag airport. On her first day, Pallavi feels nervous until she meets pilot Aditya Ram (Allu Sirish), which helps her relax and feel at ease. With the passing days, their communication develops into love, even as they remain unseen by one another. Before Aditya and Pallavi come together, fate casts unforeseen circumstances their way, transforming Pallavi’s soul into a teddy. What happened to Pallavi? In what ways are the son of a feared kingpin in Hong Kong and Arjun (Ajmal), a doctor with criminal ties, associated? The rest of the film provides answers to all these questions.
Allu Sirish is fine, but he falls short of taking his role further, lacking the charisma. Gayatri Bhardwaj and Prisha Rajesh Singh play the leading female roles in the film. Gayatri Bhardwaj’s role gets An added emotional complexity, and she handles it correctly. Prisha Rajesh Singh provides the glamour tweet when it is required.
Ajmal plays the main villain, but he appears more in the second half only. He performs impressively in his role. Mukesh Rishi receives a trendy and cool makeover. He was okay. Ali was also fine.
Sam Anton, a Tamil director, made his debut in Telugu cinema with the film Buddy. The movie’s story originates from the Tamil film Teddy. However, the setting and the love track in this film differ. The visual quality of the film captures attention right from the opening. With the impressive visual presentation, Sam Anton could set up the film on an interesting note. However, the screenplay cannot reach the higher stage as it progresses. The proceedings lack the excitement and go on an ordinary level, including the climax.
Buddy’s plot jumps into action right away without delay. The emotional drama during the introduction phase of Buddy works well along with the Pre Interval. Ali’s introduction and subsequent scenes provide the entertainment dose rightly. Also, the Pre Climax Episode comes out good.
The entertainment starts off decently in Buddy, but ultimately, it remains flat and lacks any standout moments. Things unfold as expected, offering occasional entertainment. The plot adheres to a familiar structure, unveiling clues for identifying the next proceedings. The narrative progresses smoothly due to convenient developments leading to the finale. Although the pre-climax holds decisive moments, an extended climax diminishes its effectiveness.
