Devara, NTR’s latest film, has created a history at the North American box office. The film already created a record with its pre-sales and is expected to be one of the top grossers in the USA, and though the film’s bookings near the release date got a bit slower, the film has achieved a significant landmark. Devara became the all-time top third grosser at the US Primer.
Looking at the pre-sales, the fans of NTR and trade circles expected Devara to cross the $3 million mark at the US premieres, but the film just fell short and collected $2.8 million from the premieres. RRR, directed by Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and NTR in the lead roles, stands at the second spot, and Prabhas-Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is at the top with 3.9 million. Now it will be interesting to see how much Devara will mint over the weekend with the advantage of such a massive premier number in the USA.
Meanwhile, Devara, starring NTR in a double role and directed by Koratala Siva, had superb pre-release hype and terrific advance ticket sales. The film has opened to mixed reports today, but it is poised to have an opening of 100-120 crore gross at the worldwide box office. The trade experts anticipate Devara to have a strong weekend at the box office.
